The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky was host of a four-day Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center residency. The festival, in its third season, took place on the 3000 acre Pleasant Hill Shaker Village, where guests and musicians stayed and ate in beautiful, historic surroundings. The residency included five performances: two morning concerts, and three evening concerts.
Concerts are held in what once was a tobacco barn. The seven artists joining Wu Han were all new to the festival: violinist Erin Keefe, cellist Fred Sherry, the Escher String Quartet (Adam Barnett-Hart, Wu Jie, violins; Pierre Lapointe, viola; Andrew Janss, cello), and clarinetist David Shifrin.
Wu Han performed Beethoven’s Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano in E-flat major, Op. 1, No. 1 with Erin Keefe and Fred Sherry, as well as Schumann’s Quintet in E-flat major for Piano, Two Violins, Viola, and Cello, Op. 44.
